This is me:
And this website – Let Me Digress – is my portfolio and blog site and that place where I can experiment with website coding without destroying any actual fee-paying business.
I’m a writer. And a library-records-archives-data-information-knowledge management professional, depending on the week. I’ve a solid portfolio of corporate and business writing at my back, and while I no longer actively chase freelance work in the space, I still get called upon to knock up a strategic document or three, not to mention the odd annual report on occasion. I once had a fling with business journalism. Ah, fun.
But my focus is on my first love: fiction. I write speculative fiction, crime fiction, the dark stuff and the weird, which doesn’t count-out a decent splash of romance where the tale invites it, either. I’ve a handful of short fictions in various anthologies and magazines kicking about the place and am currently working on a novel (or twelve).
Oh, I was also a blogger for a while, documenting my experience through the fun-filled world of assisted reproduction: Fun with IVF
I also co-run a weddings photography and videography business called M&K Weddings, and we do a damn fine wedding photography and videography package, so give us a call if you’re in the market for that kind of thing.
I’m a perpetual student and an old school geek with a love of new media, a passion for history and an obsession with politics. I live in a house filled with books, comics, cameras, movies and computers, surrounded by the trees on the outer urban-rural Melbourne fringe, and because I’m also a mother of two young kidlets, all of my stuff has been pushed to the side to make way for piles of plastic toys. Yes, I live in the place where FisherPrice goes to die.
